THE ROCKS PART

Occasionally I will make personal tributes on this page to particular posts that I have read that I found to be outstanding and exceptional and that I want to highlight because they deserve it…right now, today, I can think most recently of the post that The Amateur Gourmet wrote on his historical visit to El Bulli - that post and that write-up is award winning.

Josh Ozersky of The Feedbag interviewed Sylvia Weinstock about her wedding cakes, which I found to be captivating and informative as we walked thru Sylvia’s cake store and into the various departments that create her delicious wedding cakes at delicious prices. Josh I found this particular video to be of outstanding clarity. So… what did you do different and keep on doing it.

I have always loved the photos that my favourite blogs publish but one in particular always stands out, alone in its voice, and for that reason I want to pay a personal tribute to Donna Ruhlman, who photographs for her husband on Ruhlman.com and whose food pictures are truly worth a thousand forkfuls. I admit to looking forward to each picture of each post and now that she has announced her own website there will be so much more to feed off of. So thank you Donna.

This week I was getting my camera ready for all the great, wonderful, professional and stunningly beautiful (yeah…right..) pictures I will be taking of all the great food I expect to be eating and wanted to give another kiss* on both cheeks first to David Lebovitz for twittering about Matt and then to Matt Wright who answered my ridiculous questions on photographing with my ancient Sony Digital DCS.  Only if I begin to get critical comments on the quality of my photographs will I possibly consider purchasing a new one.

In the interim the Sony has stopped charging so I invested fifteen bucks on a new battery: NOPE, not the problem…now I am about to spend another few dollars on a battery charger since I think it is the wall plug connection and they don’t sell that any more…. watch I will be shooting with the cheap camera that son has offered up to me.

By the way: what does one do with my fantastic Nikon camera and Olympus I used during a photography class back in the 90’s that shoots only film?  And has two replaceable lenses each? Donna Ruhlman says gracefully pack them away for eternity.

Pinch My Salt had a Wordless Wednesday where she showed off her adorable cutie-pie called Smack. I think I will follow her and maybe we can make a trend of showing off our adorable loved pets…so here is Zoey

THE PIZZED OFF PART

Can you believe that each time I post, I have to send all my girlfriends here in Montreal an email linking them to my new post…”Dummies enter your emails and subscribe to my Blog…..!!!!” C’mon I need to know someone is reading these.                                                              pizz-me-off-friday-lady1

Oops I forgot this goes worldwide, they aren’t really dummies they are my very good friends and if they want to stay that way they will subscribe.

THE ROCKS AND THE PIZZED

Food Blogger Camp could there be a better idea? Could there be a better time to be in Mexico than January? Could the schedule have better speakers and experienced bloggers? Could the contest include more than one entry per comment? Could Quebec allow me to go if I win? NO: they won’t allow cause Quebec never allows us to enter and win contests. Why one might ask? Loto-Quebec demands the sponsors must follow a stringent set of rules set out by the Quebec government one of which makes the sponsors pay them 10% of he value of the winning prize.

ALTHOUGH IN THIS CASE THERE ARE NO ENTRY FORMS TO FILL OUT…..
